DaNaSa Section II: Attack| Chapter XI

 Nathei jerked awake from her dream. Her chest rose and fell quickly as she stared downwards, remembering her nightmare. She fell backwards, back on to the pillows, and let out a sigh. She squinted up at the ceiling before covering her eyes with her right arm.

 “Sissy?” Nathei bit her lip, reminding herself she was not real. “Sissy why didn’t you help me? Sissy? Sissy! SISSY!” Tears fell from Nathei’s tightly closed eyes and down the sides of her face.

 “Leave me alone, Feather.” She whispered.

 “You let him kill me.” Feather growled.

 “I did nothing of the sort.” Nathei whispered and turn to lay on her right side so she wouldn’t see her sister.

 “It’s your fault I’m dead.” She hissed and Nathei winced.

 “No… i-it’s dad’s fault… not mine.” Nathei whimpered. The door opened and Dani quietly walked in.

 “Nathei?” Dani questioned softly. Nathei hesitantly looked over her shoulder at Dani.

 “Where’s Sath?” Nathei asked as she turned on to her back.

 “Made her go get some sleep, promised her I would check up on you.” Dani said and Nathei sighed.

 “Why is she in my head Dani?” Nathei asked, “I mean why now? This could have happened any time between the day we met Sath to now so why now?” Dani sighed.

 “I don’t know Nat, maybe because you saw him and he gave you such a shake the memories cropped up.” Dani suggested.

 “I hope they stop. I’m getting sick of this room.”

 “Can’t blame you, you’ve been in it for about a month.”

 “Don’t remind me!” Nathei groaned.

 Dani stood there for a moment before walking over and sitting beside Nathei. “Nat, you really have the family worried.”

 “Yeah, I figured.” Nathei muttered.

 “Not with this.” Dani whispered.

 “Then with what?” Nathei asked.

 “With the fight.” Dani replied. “They didn’t know about him. He… that kid is the company that competes with Dad’s. They… they think he was told to go after you and stop at nothing to make you his.” Nathei’s eyes widened as she stared at Dani’s back.

 “He’s… Christ.” Nathei hissed as she forced herself up. “So is he going to be released?” Dani shook her head.

 “No, what he did can’t get him a free pass even with his parents being who they are. He seriously hurt some people and hurt you and Sathra. And the police built up a case that can get him sentenced for life.” Nathei stared at her.

  “Why is everything happening now?” Nathei whispered, running a hand through her dark brown hair that hung around her shoulders.

  “Who knows Nat? But… right now is better than never. He should go to jail for life. Being the kid or not, I don’t want him to ever come near you two again.” Dani whispered.

 “Dani…?” Nathei whispered as she crawled across the bed to sit next to her. Dani quietly looked up at her. Nathei gave her a small smile before hugging her. “Thank you,” Nathei whispered, burying her head into Dani’s shoulder.

  “For what?” Dani asked a tad surprised.

 “For everything,” Nathei breathed as tears crept down her cheeks. Dani wrapped her arms around Nathei, protectively.

 “You’re welcome kid.”
