Cinderella glanced at her friends as they got out of the carriage and started up the steps to the castle. “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea…” Cinderella muttered.

“Cinderella it’s not something that happens every year this is a once in a life time opportunity!” Mary told her.

“And we’re not about to let you miss it either.” Ashlin added. Cinderella smiled to herself, grateful for such good friends. Her friends hurried up the rest of the stairs to open the door for her. “Welcome to the place.” Ashlin smiled and Cinderella let out a laugh.

“Why thank you.” She smiled as she passed through the doors into the castle with her friends right behind. They walked past the guards and up the rest stairs to the ballroom. “Go ahead in, I need a minute. I promise I won’t leave.” The two girls glanced at one another before hurrying into the ballroom. Cinderella watched them leave before going over to the window then to the balcony, not knowingly into the ballroom. She sighed as she leaned against the wall, staring out into the blackness of the night.

The prince sighed as he bowed again to some twin sisters. “Please to meet you.” He forced a smile. They walked back and as he watched them go he caught sight of a girl. His eyebrows furrowed, he had not met her yet and there were just one other person to meet and he knew it was not her. He walked down from the slight stage and down the carpet to see her. Everyone’s eyes followed him to the girl.

“Are you alright?” He asked as he gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Yes I’m…” she looked up into his deep grey eyes. Not realizing for a moment who she was looking at. “Y-You’re highness.” She breathed after a moment.

“Please, Thomas is my name.” He replied, smiling down at her. “Would you like to dance?”

“I can’t dance, never taught how.” She blushed.

“How about a walk then?” He asked, holding out a hand to her.

“You sure?” Cinderella asked and he nodded. “Alright then,” she took his hand and he led passed the crowds to the back garden. Cinderella’s eyes widened at the garden. “It’s beautiful,” she breathed glanced up at him. They walked through the garden stopping on the bridge. “Why did you come and talk to me?” She asked.

“You seemed lonely and sad.” He replied honestly. “And you’re kind of beautiful.”

“T-Thanks,” She whispered, turning crimson. “You’re not bad looking yourself.”

 “Thanks,” he laughed. “You married?”

 “Why? You asking?” She smiled.

“Maybe,” he replied and she blinked at him. She quickly glanced away, brushing a stray strand of her blond hair behind her ear.

“No… I’m not.” She replied after a moment of silence.

“How can a beautiful girl like not be married?” He asked.

“Just have not found the right guy yet,” She looked back up at him, staring into his grey eyes.

“May I ask your name?” Thomas asked.

“Cin…” the sound of the clock broke her from her fantasy and looked up at the clock. “Oh god I’m sorry but I have to go.” Cinderella took off running down the bridge. Thomas blinked before realizing what happened.

“Wait!” He called as he started to chase after her. Cinderella hurried into the ballroom. Her friends instantly seeing her as she ran through the room, they ran after her and the three hurried down the front steps and to the carriage, making it out as the gates closed behind them.

“That was close,” Mary muttered as she glanced out the window.

“Yeah… we better hurry back.” Cinderella muttered as she glanced out of the window back at the castle that grew smaller the farther they got.

Ashlin and Mary glanced at one another before staring at the floor. “Your shoe,” Mary gasped as she noticed Cinderella’s missing shoe. Cinderella blinked and looked down at her feet, realizing she only wore one and looked back out the window at the castle.

       “Find me.”
